Universities/Collectives
September 14, 2022

By Erika Cheng

MOGL Staff Writer

MOGL recently expanded its athlete relations team, hiring Washington D.C.-based Timothy F. Bryson as Director of Athlete Education and Compliance.

In his new role, Bryson is responsible for creating educational content for athletes across key NIL topics and verticals. In addition, he oversees the compliance division at MOGL and ensures that all MOGL athletes are educated, supported, and informed as they monetize their NIL.  Bryson will work with university compliance and athletic departments to educate their student-athletes and support their departments as they leverage the MOGL platform.

Tim is also the founder and president of Walk With TFB, LLC, a weekly podcast and education service focused on helping all people identify their passion, inspire their visions, and walk in their purpose. Walk With TFB provides career services, digital branding, and leadership development.

Background and Community Involvement

Prior to joining MOGL, Bryson was Program Director for Student-Athlete Career Development at the University of Maryland. There, he managed all career readiness programming and services for student-athletes. Bryson also led the department's international education and global learning initiatives, specifically Worldwide Terps, whose mission is to help international student-athletes navigate the ongoing transition to the United States.

Bryson has been a featured speaker and contributor at many college sports talks and presentations. Including the "Bringing Athlete and Sport Activism to Every Kitchen Table" panel at the Cleveland Power of Sport Summit during NBA All Star Weekend and the Inaugural NCAA International Student Athlete Inclusion Think Tank.

Bryson has also been honored and recognized by multiple organizations, nominated for the N4A Region I Kenneth Miles Professional Promise Award, and selected as 1 of 10 to participate in the NAFSA RISE Fellowship program for international educators.

In his other related work, Bryson created and managed the Barry and Mary Gossett Fellows program, supported by a $21.25 million gift from the Gossett family, to empower student-athletes to become change agents in their local and global communities. Since its inception in 2019, every athlete participating in this program has secured post-graduate plans before graduation. Bryson also revamped the InTERPship Academy, a model career development program that remains one of the only paid internship programs for student-athletes in the NCAA, to increase focus on education through experience and exposure.

Education

Bryson is also pursuing a Ph.D. in the Student Affairs concentration in the College of Education at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research interests are situated at the intersection of internationalization and college athletics, with a deliberate focus on international college athlete career pathways. He is expected to complete his Ph.D. program from the University of Maryland in 2024.

Tim’s Team

Bryson brings his extensive experience and skill to MOGL's athlete relations team lead by Co-Founder and Chief Athletic Officer Brandon Wimbush. He will work alongside Director of University Relations Elliott Charles. Bryson and Charles are recent hires, bringing significant experience and skills to the NIL marketplace.

Elliott Charles helped steer Chicago State through the pandemic and helped the predominantly black institution navigate the distressing landscape. Before joining Chicago State, Elliott was an Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Services at Clemson University during the same period they won the national championship in football. Elliott has served as Deputy Athletic Director at Florida A&M, Associate Athletic Director at the University of South Florida, and in compliance at the University of Alabama while the Tide won national championships in football, women's gymnastics, softball, and women's golf.

Bryson and Charles' experience and dedication to student-athletes navigating a constantly evolving space help elevate MOGL's athlete relations team. MOGL welcomes them enthusiastically to the company and looks forward to growing  together in the new NIL landscape.
